Frequently Asked Questions

Questions that we hope you have about the association

How can i be involved? Involvement can be on a number of levels and we are grateful for all the support we have, be it as an individual member, a local amenity group or from the local business community.

Can I nominate someone for their day to day work? In general no. Although their have been exceptional circumstances where this has been allowed, the Southwark Civic Association has full discretion over all awards.

Who decides on the award? Nominations are considered by the Court of the Association ( a group of 25 members). This is conducted in closed session and all documentation is returned to the Hon. Secretary at the conclusion of the meeting.

What involvement does the Council have? Once the final list of nominations have been agreed the list is sent to the council who confirm the final awards. At that point we are able to invite the recipients to the award ceremony.

When are meetings held? The association meets about 4 times a year, generally on a saturday morning. Dates and what type of meeting being held are available here.
